Focus 2017 1.5 Ecoboost Auto Gearbox Service

Featured Replies

Hello, Super new here and first post so Hello to everyone 🖐️. I bought a 2017 Focus ST Line 1.5 Ecoboost Petrol Auto in August and not sure when it was all last serviced. Service history is patchy and would like to do a full service. Trouble is I cant find anywhere about what oils it takes, Wether or not I can drop the oil on the auto box or not because its a tad lurchy and seems to like to stay in 3rd gear when accelerating fast ( not sure if thats just a thing they do in this model or not). Is anyone able to point me in the right direction, Its my first focus so not sure on whats "normal" with these. Had a truck previous so trying to cut down the fuel cost and still have "fun". I've tried using the search feature but doesn't seem to come back with anything sensible about mine. Is it just an odd ball car and engine for its year. Thanks a lot. David

Don't try and drop the gearbox oil yourself until you have done some research, undoing the wrong bolt can cause damage.

It's also very important that you buy the correct transmission fluid.

There are plenty of how to's on YouTube to do with this gearbox as it is very popular in America.

Your gearbox is a 6F30 6 speed Torque Converter Box.

The jerky shift changes can be improved by resetting the adaptive learning system (which adapts to your driving style) which will still be set to the previous owner's driving style.

There are also videos on how to reset and, more importantly, relearn. You can also do it with Forscan and a suitable cable.

Just search 6F30

OK thank's, Will look at doing the adaptive learning system thing. I will order a cable and get that forscan thing you mentioned. Thanks for the reply
