EGR probs

Featured Replies

My focus titanium 1.6 tdci 2010 has a egr history. When purchase it developed a egr fault the garage fitted 2 but it didn't cure the problem, that took a main dealer to sort. It was fine for over a year then the prob returned .  After cleaning it with cleaner without removing it it was then fine for 6 months. 2 weeks ago it played up again so it was removed to be cleaned. When dismantled it was obviously stuck but was not excessively clogged , a quick squirt with cleaner and the mechanism sprung back ..I refitted it and all the stuttering had gone but I had poor acceleration. When disconnected it runs fine.. I know I can blank it but I have been told it will fail an mot and is illegal, I can replace it but I was told I would have to have it coded to the ecu...I have be told many different things and don't know what to do ..I am taking it off again tomorrow to clean it again ...any info or ideas would be appreciated I need the cheapest solution  lol ...
