Calling Mk.4 owners!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I'm wondering if there's any Mk.4 owners who would be willing to indulge a very strange annoyance of mine. In my Mk3.5, I can change the units to km. This changes everything you'd expect: the digital speed readout, fuel economy (mpg) changes to fuel consumption (L/100km), the odometer, trip, and range to empty all change to km. Except the speed limiter and cruise control?! These remain stuck on mph no matter what you do.

I'm hoping to find out if this behaviour is the same on the Mk.4 too? If anyone would be willing to change the units for a moment on their car, and then try the speed limiter/cruise control and see if that changes over to km/h now? I'm especially interested if anyone has a Mk.4 with the new digital dash and tries the same for me. Anyone willing?

For those wondering, I'm just fastidious about this sort of thing, and seems an obvious change that should happen but doesn't. I'm steadfast in my preference of using km/h (yes, yes; I know I can't change the analog speedo ☹️) all the time but that limiter/cruise control not changing is extremely annoying. I'll be considering a Mk.4 with digital dash as my next car but this, eccentric though it may seem, would put me off.

Just checked for you and all values change in the mk4, including limiter and cruise.

Ah brilliant; thanks so much for taking the time!

No problem.

Yep, can confirm when I was in France (back when we could do such things) I set the speed preference to km/h and it changed it on the digital readout and the cruise control. One thing I would like though, which you can't do, is to be able to keep distances on the sat nav and estimated fuel left set to miles and the speedo set to km/h.

Thanks for another confirmation! Though, completely confused why you'd want to keep the nav and fuel in miles when surely it's easier to see the remain distance in km when you see signs in km to the next service station etc? 😁 personal preferences of course!

I know it's a little odd, I just guess it's because I know in my mind exactly how long a mile is, so if it says 120 miles to my destination I know just how far that is, unlike in km which doesn't have the same instant familiarity.
