2020.75 Focus - Digital Dash Issue?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can’t see any similar issues posted but I’ve noticed two things with my Focus which link to the digital display so not sure if it’s that, or two issues occurring at once.

First is the fuel economy screen. The mpg figure has twice reset itself when I’ve started the car in recent weeks. It was around 43 (I do a lot of short journeys) but twice I’ve started the car and it’s counting up from 12mpg and takes a day or two (probably because of short journeys) to get up past 35mpg.

Second issue is the pre-collision assist has twice flared up when I really don’t think it’s been necessary. Once when I was driving about 40 along a road and there was a car ahead parked half on the kerb but there was a fair distance before I needed to move over to pass it, and the second time I was turning out of a junction from a stop, so around 10mph, and again it was set off when there’s a car parked in the distance.

Anyone experienced anything similar before I contact Ford?

thanks

Lol, the pre collision alert is a daily occurrence on my digital dash!  Just my driving...but yes it’s very.....eager.

can’t comment on the other issue as I have calm screen only....e.g. nothing

Hi, As mentioned pre-collision assist always pops up when you're passing a parked car. If you don't start turning the steering wheel at the point it thinks you should it flags up.

Loosing your average fuel all the time sounds like an issue somewhere, probably software.

Cheers guys.

Didn’t realise it had pre collision assist - the was quite a shock when the car started beeping at me and the dash went red.

I’ll give the car a long run this week and see if the MPG sorts itself out otherwise I’ll get onto Ford.

You can reduce the sensitivty of the pre-collision assist. I have mine on Low.

You still get some false positives, but definitely fewer of them.

I had a test drive in a new Puma just before lockdown and the system went off so loud it nearly caused me to have an accident! Didn't get chance to fiddle with it, but I assumed it could be toned down but - I guess - not switched off altogether?I

I can switch it off completely on mine, same menu to adjust sensitivity. High, Medium, Low, Off. Default is Medium (or it might say normal I can't remember)

Thanks Alex. Is that permanently off or do you have to do it on every start up?

(Thinking about my next car at the mo and would prefer something where I don't need to spend 5 minutes switching stuff off every time I drive it!😃).

Permanently afaik, although I haven't tried. It stays on Low each time, so I'd assume it would stay off too.

Able to get a few snaps of the digital dash in focus? Really want to see if it’s possible to do this in a mk4 as a mod later on when it’s possible to get hold of them!
