Focus Started then died and won’t start again

Featured Replies

Hi guys I recently bought a 2009 focus 1.6 TDCI and yesterday morning it started up no problem then just died like 10 seconds later. Since then it will not fire up but it will crank over I’m not sure on the problem so it may just be a clogged fuel filter but I’m confused. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Could be the egr valve stuck, worth removing and giving it a clean to make sure the valve works freely. Any fault lights? Does the engine sound like it's trying to fire?

There are no fault lights on the dash and yeah it’s cranking over just not firing up

I would go with the easiest/cheapest option first and change the fuel filter. Once changed make sure it's primed so it starts and stays started.
