Car vibrations and harsh bang

Featured Replies

Hi,

Sorry for bothering you, but I'm newbie here on this forum.

I have Focus MK3, 2015, Titanium with the PowerShift gearbox.

Recently I have noticed the following anomalies with the car:

  1. Light but constant vibrations in Idle, when in P or D (when on brakes), especially noticeable, when aircon is off.
  2. One time huge bang under the bonnet like something very heavy jumped up and fall down under the hood)/sharp and abrupt whole body vibration, when I was starting off in traffic on cold (please check the sound in the video).

My questions:

  1. Has someone experienced similar issues?
  2. Can anyone suggest where to look for to fix the problem?
  3. Does anyone know a good garage in South East London or Kent?

On the 'one time huge bang' I would suggest it might be a front road spring fracture.

Have a look under and see. Do it now, broken springs have been known to shred tyres.

If your springs are OK then someone more knowledgeable than myself should be along with better advice.

Checked springs - looked alright to me.

I would check the condition of the torque mount bottom back of engine.

I'd double check the springs and check to see if one side is sitting lower. I had similar on mine, heard a bang, couldn't see anything obvious and even felt fine to drive. I noticed a few days later that I did indeed have a broken spring which wasn't obvious at first.

Mine was on the last coil where the spring sits in the seat which was probably why I didn't notice originally
