CMax 1.6 Diesel Titanium 2010, heater fan not working

Featured Replies

Hi all and seasons greeting,

I thought I would put a post on to see if anyone has any thoughts on this problem that started a few months back with my climate control.

Basically everything comes on with the controller, I can hear the vent flaps moving but the fan does not run on any setting. This started as an intermittent fault but then it just stopped completely, below is a list of things we have tried so far. The fan was not noisy at all, ran and still runs as normal see point 2 below.

  1. Checked all the relevant fuses under the bonnet and under the dashboard.
  2. Checked the condition of the fan by connecting directly to a 12 volt supply and it works.
  3. Checked the resistor and the connector on the resistor it is getting power and the control cable seems to have current.
  4. Swapped the resistor in case part of the circuit was blown, no difference.
  5. Swapped the control panel in case the fault was there but no difference.
  6. Checked voice control but that doesn't make anything happen either.

Other things that may be related to this issue.

  1. The heated front screen only works on the passenger side.
  2. The front air con matrix was replaced last year when the radiator was damaged, it was re-gassed but I guess there may be a leak.

That's about all I can say of the story so far, there is a tiny amount of air being pushed through the vents (you would probably get more from a field mouse with asthma) so I know the temperatures are changing.

So does anyone have any ideas what I might check next, something I may not have considered or is my next step the garage.

Thanks in advance, Colin

P.S. I have checked other posts on the forums but none of them seem to relate directly to this problem.

You may be better of asking in general Ford , more traffic in there
