Electric parking brake woes

Hi I've just bought a 2005 Ford C-Max Ghia which is great but I'm struggling with the parking brake. I thought I'd got the knack then found myself in the middle of a queue of traffic up a steep hill. Oh my goodness.... So how do you manage a hill start with this feature (bearing in mind it doesn't have the foot on gas brake release function of modern cars)? Thanks in advance.

    Same way as a manual handbrake hold on the clutch and release handbrake.
