Hi,

Car drives fine when starts off from cold engine, gear change is very smooth, however, when it drives for approx. an hour, when I feel the engine is hot, the gear change is dodgy, judders, and is stretches before going into next gear. Spoke to Ford main dealer, they want 110 pounds just to diagnose it, is it worth investing in a diagnosis, as I feel it requires ATF change, or GBOil Change? Please advise, thank you.

I'm presuming this is an automatic, if so when was the gearbox oil changed also how many miles have you done.

A major service was done at halfords in April this year, gearbox oil was not changed in this or recently, I bought it from previous owner just after major service in April. 81k on the clock now, and yes Automatic

The early power shift gearboxes a renowned for problems if the oil isn't changed on regular intervals 40k if I remember then the gearbox goes, this change isn't in the service schedule and has to requested, my guess is this has never been changed, you may be lucky and an oil change may save your box, but be prepared for a big bill.
