FORD DASHCAM Sync3 extortion!

Featured Replies

New plug in hybrid Kuga:

My local dealer has charged me £468 labour charge for filtting a front FORD dashcam. They say it is the first they have fitted and discounted the labour charge!

Anybody had similiar experiences?

Sure, I got ripped off when Lucozade just relaunched their 'new look' drink going from 1 liter to 900ml LOL

That is disgusting. I could buy a top of the range Blackvue front and rear dashcam and get it fitted for less than that. You shouldn’t be penalised for labour charges because they haven’t fitted one before. Ford should have a fixed labour allocation for each task. If it takes them longer than the allocated time they lose. If they get it done quicker, the customer loses.

My local garage charges £50/hour, one of the joys living in a rural area rather than the country's capital! At that rate, it would have taken him almost 10 hours, he could have fitted a new engine for that! However, I'm surprised the OP didn't ask roughly how much it would cost before asking the dealer to go ahead with a blank cheque, guess some of us have more money than others!

That can't be right.  Even if it was £100 an hour it can't take 4 hours to unclip a few bits of trim.

Have they charged you for updating the Sync software as well maybe?

How many did they install ? it must have been about 10, since the normal going rate to fit a single forward facing dashcam is about £50.

Ford must have a standard fixed price for fitting a 'Ford' dashcam, I would contact Ford Customer Care direct and get their veiw on the situation. You should not be paying for the total incompetence of a Ford main dealer to carry out a basic task.

Can you post a picture of the invoice @MichaelJ ?  Something doesn’t seem anywhere near right if you were charged that much labour cost.

I get the feeling that the OP was a one post wonder LOL Doubt we'll hear from him again...

Why let the facts get in the way of a good story ?

For the last couple of months we seem to have had more than our fair share of newbie one post wonders, and also newbies that restart posts that have been dead for nearly 10 years !!! Still it gives us something to look at 😀
