Mondeo Tddi

wednesday i bought a y reg mondeo estate tddi.drove it home about30 miles without a glitch. however, today i got 3 or 4 miles into my journey, traveling at 60mph, the glow plug light iluminates an the engine cut out, it wouldnt bump start either. i cranked the engine back over and it fired up. another 2miles and its cut out and will not start.theres a slight rattle on start up for about 4 seconds which i belive to be the flywheel.is the crank pick up on the flywheel? would a faulty crank signal give me this type of problem?

could anyone tell me what type of mpg would i expect to get when its running?

thanks for any feedback

crank sensor is inbetween engine and gearbox just to the rear just below turbo, a faulty one would give the symptoms you have, you could get the codes read to be sure.
