Kuga MK2 after market head unit ("Tesla style") and can-bus decoder.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

A couple of years ago, I bought that HU (Aliexpress, of course..) the seller noted that the unit has a 'built-in' can decoder. it of course hasn't..

So, lately, I found some time to try and work this out.

I've ordered an after-market Kuga compatible harness, which ends with a 16Pin connector, since the HU has a 20Pin connector, I've remapped the wires.

While I had no problem with the 12V, GND, and speakers wires, I'm kinda lost when it comes to the can-bus decoder wiring.

As you can see in the photo, The car's harness outputs 8*speaker wires which I had connected successfully as well as the  GND and 12V.

The other 3 are the problem, there are 2 which are Can-High and Can-low which are routed to the decoder itself but also required by the HU for the display to work.

When connected directly without the decoder, the HU will not work unless those 2 can-high\low wires are connected to the input port marked with C bellow.

My problem is that when I connect the can-bus decoder, it routes these 2 wires to the decoder itself, while I'm not sure how it outputs them so I can reconnect them to the HU as required.

My other issue is that I couldn't find any ACC power wire (not ILL) coming out of the car's harness so the unit gets a constant 12V regardless of the switch on\off state and stays always on, draining the battery.

Will appreciate any help with this situation.

Cheers/

E.
