Quite clean MK1 just bought, a question about wheels.

Featured Replies

Hi all, we've just picked this up today, 1.3 duratec powered MK1 on an 04 plate, it's just out of MOT, and aside from a small hole in the front of the drivers side sill it's remarkably clean, only done just over 50k as well.

However, owing to the tyres all being different makes and a few years old, once it's got a fresh ticket on it I really want to put a set of escort / cortina steel wheels on it, because I had a set on a MK3 fiesta and think they really suit quite well, and once I source a set I can refurb them I think they'd look ace on this.

I have also been told to proceed with caution though, as apparently there's a chance that they could catch either the caliper, the suspension leg or both on the front, so I'm just wondering if anybody has tried a set and can confirm or deny if I'll have a problem or not.

Many thanks in advance 🙂

Hi there,I haven't tried that model of wheel, but a set of 4x108 spacers might help as long as you have enough wheel arch to cover the wheel after.extended arches aren't too expensive.the same can't be said about the spacers though.preowned are still £100-£140. Hope that help ya!!😊
