Fuel cut off unavailable

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hoping everyone is well.

My wife has a lovely ford ka 2010, the shape which is based off the fiat 500.

Yesterday she was driving around town and all was well, when it came time to come home the car would not start. It is showing the message fuel cut off unavailable.

Does anyone know what this could be? I've heard of a fuel cut off switch but cannot locate it

Any help would be greatly appreciated, need to get the car working so my dear wife can travel to work.

Many thanks

Pru

Is the odometer also flashing and the airbag light staying on?

If so I currently have a Ka (fiat 500) in for the exact same issue and I have diagnosed the airbag module. If you Google the symptoms theres a lot of forums and videos all saying the airbag modules go faulty.

Thanks for this. I will check this asap.

Also seen for some it was a faulty battery

This happened to my daughter last night. I have tried all the things suggested such as the re-set of the switch using the indicators (as listed in the handbook). Then I found that putting an additional earth wire/strap from the negative battery terminal to the engine solved the problem. Fires up easily, no warning lamps and runs nice!

My son had this problem.  I discovered TWO problems (so not sure if one or both where causing it).

Initially I noticed I had no voltage on fuses 11 and 17 in engine bay (and actually one of the fuses had not blown but had a hairline 'fracture').

This was because fuse 16 (which supplies Relay 1 which in turn supplies the f11 and f17) had a dodgy connection to it's holder.

These feed the ECU and were causing the problem and intermittently other problems too. Clearly a dodgy earth strap will have the same effect (starving the ECU of necessary voltage).

Anyway thanks for Markrow for posting a resolution - most of the time people use up everyone's time on these forums and can't be a&^sed to come back when they've solved it!

Ran into this too. did all the wiring checks and confirmed it was my Airbag module. Ford wanted over £430+ for the module. Found someone on ebay that repairs the modules for £90. Symptoms were Airbag light stays on, flashing odometer, Auto/Stop start unavailable, Fuel cut off unavailable. This however did not stop the engine from Starting up.
