MK4.5 Mondeo EGR temperature sensor?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2011 Mondeo, 2.2TDCI (200ps)

While using Forscan to check out situation with my car I noticed something strange. I have an option to check Exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor A and C. However both are indicating -40°C all the time.

As this if impossible in real life, maybe somebody can share some knowledge - this is just a random readable value meant for another engine and this is why it indicates -40°C, or EGR indeed has a temperature sensor which has failed and has to be replaced?

I added a screen shot from Forscan.

Any information or  shared experience is very welcome!

Thanks!

Hi hoks,

I am experiencing the same issue with A and C indicating -40c and the car saying the conditions are not right for a DPF regen. Did you find out what the issue was in the end?

Thanks!

Hi KevAtkinson,

Unfortunately I have not figured this out... I honestly have forgotten about this so I guess thanks for a reminder!

I did put a new EGR valve a couple of years ago, which did not change the temperature reading, so my guesses are it is an unsupported variable or it is a wiring fault. EGR itself did not have any obvious sensor from the outside.

My car gets progressively worse fuel consumption and does more and more frequent DPF regens. I have done a lot of different troubleshooting to solve this and have been unsuccessful catching this "gremlin" for now..

I believe something else is preventing your DPF regen, as mine is regenerating normally even with EGR temperature indicated at -40°, do you have any other codes registered? Also check the exhaust temperature sensor readings as a dead sensor there will not allow regen to proceed...

My apologies I could not give a proper answer. If you somehow find this out, please share it here for all of us!

Thanks!
