Squealing when pulling off

Featured Replies

Hi, I have ford focus zetec eco,

It squeals as I pull off quite loudly and feels sometimes that something is restricting it from pulling off and I have to give it time to pull away, could this be a calliper issue or clutch

'Pulling away' might be a safer turn of phrase on here!

It does sound like sticking caliper though.  Have you got the means to jack it up and see if the wheels all spin freely?

I'm quite an amateur of doing these things myself 😁 I just find it strange how once I've pulled off the noise has gone and no noise when breaking, thanks for the suggestion though ill try to get someone that can help 🙂

Sound like clutch squeak. The friction plate screatch sound.

I'd go with clutch problem. Maybe the clutch release bearing ?

Surely that amount of clutch slip would trigger the EML though.  (Not to mention smell horrendous lol).  There can't be many left that missed the slip detection recall?

You can check the clutch yourself fairly easily.  Put the handbrake on hard.  Select 3rd gear and let the clutch in.  If it pulls the car a bit and stalls then the clutch is ok.  If it doesn't move or stall then the clutch is slipping.

Yes I've tried this already and it stalls after trying to move forward, thanks for all the suggestions though I appreciate it
