Gary_B
Hi, The speedo on my 2003 Mondeo TDCi is faulty. When I turn the ignition the numbers appear as normal but shortly after the engine starts they are replaced by dashes. I did a test on my driveway with a second battery connected in parallel and it worked fine! The battery in the car is just 1 week old as I had read that a battery with damaged cells can cause this problem ie has enough voltage to turn the engine but too low for the speed sensor. Can anybody suggest what the problem might be? I have had a bit of an on-going issue with the car starting. It sometimes needs 3 attempts before it fires up. Could this be related to it or just another problem. Thanks in advance Gary_B
Philjay
Hi gary, just found this post regarding your odometer faulting and i was wondering did you get to the root cause? I have the same problem on my 2003 st220. I have also read about possible battery issues causing it.
unofix
You need to use FORScan and check for fault codes.
nicam49
Could be bad earths, take the battery and battery tray out and check the negative earth tags where they are bolted to the frame. Unbolt them, clean up the tarnishing and rust from the area, etc, and refit.
