Intermittent P0380

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago I kept getting an intermittent warning light (sometime less than a second, sometimes it may last 20 secs) and the car will go into limp mode then when the warning light goes off the car is fine again.  The error code was P0380 and relates to the glow plugs.  I had the car in the garage and had 4 plugs replaced, two days later the warning light and same code comes back on so back I put it back in the garage.  The mechanic tells me one of the new glow plugs was faulty so he replaces it.  About two weeks (today) the engine warning light comes on again putting the car into limp mode with the same error code.  Ive got the car booked in for next week but just seeing if anyone had the same code that wasn't the fault of the actual glow plugs (maybe fuse or relay etc?)  Any help welcome, thanks in advance.  My car is a Fiesta MK5 1.4 Ghia 2008.

were these after market glow plugs or the real deal Ford ones at the cost of two arms and a leg ?

If they are not Ford glow plugs it might be that the quality is a bit iffy, and if your mechanic is right then you have already had one new one fail.
