Godsgamer1991
Hi all first post, So I recently bought Cmax Titanium 62 plate, 2 litre diesel. Auto transmission, I've had the car 3 weeks. The history shows its always passed MOT and has had various services. With q baby due I bought this be our first family car and I've had nothing but stress compared to my 3dr fiesta. The problem is a DTC. Twice its happened. 1. Turned car on drove for 3 minutes, slowed at lights transmission limited appears on dash with a amber "i". I notice as I drive it seems to feel like it's missing out gears, once pulled over I can put the car in reverse but the car just revs and fails to move back. Turn the ignition off and back on and the fault disappeared. Checked the service menu and one DTC shows DTC #1 1706.00. Took it to a local garage no fault found. 2. 4 days later Left home, 2 minute drive and I pull into a local car park as I pull in (low speed again) "transmission limited" amber "i" on dash. Same symptoms. Turn off back on, clear. Take it to a second garage that specialises in mapping etc. Test drove the car plugged into his laptop, couldn't find the fault as such because some old ones have not been removed. Garage 2 has now deleted all faults so when it happens again he will know the exact fault. All I can find is that P1706 relates to the car thinking it's still in park. Apart from this gears change smooth and the car is great. The first garage recommended a gearbox oil change @ £340.00 and couldn't say this would sort any issue. Its causing stress especially with a baby on the way any help at all would be mich appreciated!! Thank you
alanfp
I'm not an expert - others on here are - but I've had similar symptoms and a gearbox oil change def. helped. Certainly if you want reduced stress, that will be one thing out of the way. I'm sure gbox oil change used to be recommended at 62500 miles (5 yrs) but I think it's been revised to 37500 (3 years). I wonder why!!!!! Any evidence in your serv hist of a change being done recently? PS £340 is about right for the cost, if you were wondering.
