Radio Problems

Featured Replies

On the ford radio it looks like there many variations. mine is cv4t-19c107-gg. I have found a few where only the last 2 letters are different eg. NG, NL, NC, NJ etc. It looks as though they are the same radio but with different mounting brackets. Is this the case?

The last two letters are the 'batch'/'manufacure date' not normally of any importance.

hello team...new fellow on the block from South Africa...will this mean my existing ACM with GG as last 2 letters usable should I wish to upgrade from Sync1 to 3?

This is true only of the very last letter, in this case the part number is CV4T-19C107-GG. The last G is a minor revision, meaning that any radio with the same part number but with a different letter at the end would be compatible (D, E, F, G, H).

For example, a radio with the part number CV4T-19C107-GH would also be a compatible replacement.

Unfortunately you cannot put a radio with the part number CV4T-19C107-NK or something similar as a replacement for the aforementioned radio. Although I have never actually tried that specific replacement myself, I can only apply what I do know from many other Ford parts, the first 'G' in 'GG' is whats called the major revision letter and this is very important and related to the design and function of the unit.

Hope this helps.

I believe if you are upgrading from SYNC1 to SYNC3 you need the lastest audio unit, it has a part number of CV4T-19C107-NK and is fairly easy to pickup. To be honest you need to change a lot of things to upgrade from SYNC1 to SYNC 3, I have only seen it done once. This is mainly as you have to adapt the wiring harness in the dashboard and through the centre console.

I would honest recommend looking at aftermarket options, rather than genuine Ford as aftermarket radios often come with their own harness adaptors and this makes it a lot easier.
