Has anyone used this tracker?

Thanks Bob,

Just wondering, would a car thief be able to just unplug it from the obd socket, which on my car is visible if they know what they are looking for.

Also what is the monthly sub cost please.

Thanks again

Plugs into the OBD socket.

Thief knows where OBD socket is, finds strange device, throws it out of the window. You get a notification some minutes later which tells you roughly what time your car was stolen.

I was wondering about the security of having it in an OBD port but thought it might be possible to move the OBD port.    App subscription is free for the first month and just £4 thereafter

Thanks Bob, yes I believe its quite common to shift the obd port, even without a tracker to avoid the thieving scum from accessing it, or at least making it a lengthier process of finding it.

A tracking device has to be well hidden. If your car is what a professional car thief is looking for, somewhere safe, they will literally take all the trim and interior panels off to check.

Exactly 🙂

Exactly 🙂

M8 you can buy a bummy obd 11 port mini wireing harness that yo can wire it up your self or autospark to for you then hide the original ware you want just tell mechanic ware you hide it

You will only know if they are “excellent”,if you’re unfortunate enough to have one stolen.Including the quality of recovery by the service provider and of course the liaison with the police.

I can only say that in the years that I have been using them, the position location/accuracy is about plus or minus 2 metres.  The speed of the position update is approx once every 12 seconds. There is no recovery contract and as far as the police are concerned its too much hard work unless there's a chance to issue a speeding ticket.

We can view on a computer or phone anytime of the day or night the speed/location/status/battery voltage/how long parked, which can be handy. You can also set your own movement alerts. I have them set to text us if they move after 10:30PM and before 7:00AM which just gives a little piece of mind when going to bed. They currently cost £5 per month per tracker which I think is fair value. Also I have installed a hidden relay to kill the supply to the ECU which I can do remotely form my phone to the tracker.

Is it better that they don't find your car again and you get a new replacement on the insurance?

Please forgive any possible naivety on my part here, as I am lucky enough never to have had a car stolen.

i don't know what every different insurance policy says but you normally only get a new car as a replacement if you car is less than one year old (new meaning brand new) but considering the waiting list / delivery times for new cars at the moment you could be waiting a long time. and it's a bit debatable if you would get a courtesy car in the meantime as they are usually just whilst your car is being repaired, not waiting for a new car to arrive after the one insured was stolen and not recovered.

"Also I have installed a hidden relay to kill the supply to the ECU which I can do remotely form my phone to the tracker."  I like this bit. I don't have a tracker but some people who do have this type of tracker might like a bit of detail from you on how this is done.

I think I would love to have a remote relay which activated a 6 inch blade to the crotch area of the drivers seat 🙂

knowing my luck it would get activated in error whilst I was driving 😞

Happy to provide details if anyone needs them.

One small thing to watch out for with when connecting the relay coil is that it needs to be connected to a permanent live (or at least live whilst the ignition is on) as the switched output from the tracker is negative.

Forget trackers --- This is what you need !!
