Engine Light On And Car Slightly Over Reving Itself

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to this forum but would really appreciate some help. I have a 2001 Ford Ka, which isn't the greatest of runners but anyway. Yesterday my engine light started flashing but today it is on constantly. When I start the car up she revs herself a bit and does it while I'm driving so it feels like chugging for a little bit. I have checked all her fluid levels and they are grand, I put 5W30 oil in her this morning and it has helped a bit but still chugging a bit and the light is on. I called the Ford dealership and they want £70 just to put it on the diagnostic machine. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

Thanks

Jenny
