Heated Steering Wheel Stopped Working

Featured Replies

I got in my 2017 Edge yesterday afternoon and the heated steering wheel did not heat up, light on Sync was on but nothing.

In the morning it worked fine and there was no indication that it was on its way out. I have checked fuse 37 under the dash and that was fine.

I am open to any advise before I take it to my local Ford dealer!

Suspect if your battery is a little tired it won’t come on.

The heated windscreen on our edge does the same thing sometimes!

Same experience with mine. Funnily enough, was talking about it this morning after just going shopping. Heated windscreen didn't work at all. Heated wheel worked then stopped working after couple mins driving (with the button still indicating it was on). Also drivers heated seat doesn't work.

Noticed in winter the drivers heated seat does work though. My batter is over 5 years old now so probably getting towards the end of its usefulness. Only positive thing is, it still starts the engine straight away.

Thanks.

Should I change my battery or should a good charge help?

I have been using my park heater a lot as the weather has gotten colder and i know that can drain the battery relatively quickly.

We don't have park heaters in the UK so can't comment on that. I assumed they were the things that plug into a mains socket in the house but guess not?

A good charge will help for a short period. I drove a few hundred miles the other week and that helped for a few days, even the auto stop start started working again, but normally turn that off anyway.

Depends how much you want the features to work and how well the car is starting. If you're not fussed on the features not working so well or at all and want your monies worth out of the battery, hold on. If not, probably worth changing. I'm just holding out a bit to see how it handles starting the car in colder weather, so far mine's not been too bad.

The park heater runs off diesel and it is a battery eater to be fair.

Any who I gave it a good charge overnight and still nothing, everything is working including the start/stop. I guess it might be time to take it to the dealer and see if there is a fault.

I bought my 17 Edge Sport last spring.  In the fall I realized the seat heater wasn't working and the heated steering wheel wasn't working very well either, if at all. $1200 later the seat works well but I'm scared what it will cost to get the heat back to the steering wheel.  I love the vehicle. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

What did you do for the seats? Full replacements or parts inside?
