Engine Mount Or Header/Expansion Tank Leak

Featured Replies

Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have a curious issue, which i have posted on other forums, but didn't get too many replies & wondered if anyone could shed further light.

My 2009 Kuga 20TDI seems to have "rust" deposits on and around the engine mount. This sits directly under the header/expansion tank. See photos

I don't appear to have a water leak, (the level hasn't dropped since filling it up about a month ago) and the engine mount seems solid.

Is the tank leaking or does the engine mount leak and "spray" out.

The car doesn't run hot (with the temp gauge never going above half way - I drive 60 miles a day, so the car gets up to temp)

Is it time for a new header tank? Or is it a leaky cap? Or is it time for new hoses? Or do i put a new engine mount in.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

John

The engine mount can't leak water.

Header tanks are known to suffer from fine hairline cracks. If it was mine I would replace the header tank and the filler cap. They are not very expensive.

As above
