Intermittent start issue 1.8tdci galaxy

Hi all,

I have a starting issue with a Ford galaxy, a 2009 with the 1.8 tdci. I see a member called smiffy had same issues with theirs, he mentioned that he thinks he found the fault, it was a stuck egr valve. Would this cause the car to start and then immediately die, if its left for a while then it will start or after a few attempts, drives fine when going. Someone has also mentioned fuel pressure control valve and glow plugs. I can't see it being the glow plugs as it hasn't been cold enough and also it can happen anytime it feels like it no pattern.
