Cant turn engine off

Featured Replies

Hi all just want to ask if anyone had experienced this i have a 2010 ford mondeo titanium 2.0ltr turbo diesel ive only owned the car for 2 weeks and yesterday when i got home from work i couldn't turn the engine off with the button so i left the car sitting in the garage for 2hrs on idle and after going and trying the button every 10minutes it finally turned off then i couldn't turn ignition on or start it couldn't lock doors nothing on the fob worked so i ended up taking the negative terminal off for a few hours then once I put terminal back on everything seemed to be normal any information on what it could be would be great thanks

Quite a few posts via google on this, either battery, alternator or switch itself. apparently you can reset the battery on a japanese vid, buckingham ford says its a power drop issue, happy googling

Thanks jimpster will have a look

BCM (under the glovebox) is another option as the button just sends a signal to the BCM to turn the engine on or off. However, I would definitely check the other points first as BCM repair/replacement is less likely and can get expensive. As a starting point I would check the body earth connection near the battery, and also that the battery itself is in good condition.
