Mondeo fuel cover lock

Featured Replies

Just received new mondeo and noticed that fuel cover can be opened if doors are locked. Checked this twice - remains not locked. Just push cover and can access easy fuel cap an addblue cap. I believe it should be locking it? Previous cars were locking it when locked doors. Checked wifes fiesta, it also remains not locked while doors are locked. Strange…

Has anyone mondeo with Led fog lights? Dealer added it as option, but finally they are halogen not Led.

Compared to Insignia sports tourer, Mondeo is quiter to drive, suspension works better, no active dpf regens so far(1100km driven), material quality better.  But insignia got better matrix led lights. In mondeo it feels like more on/off mode, meanwhile in insignia it dimmed left side when car approached, but left right side with high beam on.

Due to the ford easy fuel system the door doesn't need to lock, it's virtually impossible to syphen fuel from these things. And without the adapter (in the boot with the spare wheel) you can't add anything to the tank either, if anyone tries then it will end up on the ground underneath.

If you don't have the words 'dynamic LED' etched on the lens of the headlamp unit then you haven't got the upgraded lamps. If that's the case then you need to go back to the dealer. Was it a new build or new to you?

The Mondeo does not have matrix headlamps, it's got high beam assist which does as you described - turns them on and off.

I have dynamic led on headlamp. It works more like on/off high beam.
good to know about easyfuel safety.

this is new mondeo -1 week old.

That's right, it's just on off high beam and not matrix.

When you turn the headlamps on do they do the calibration 'dance'?

What makes you think they are halogen?

Fog lights visible under main lamp(halogen not Led as dealer sold it)

Fog lamps are normally halogen, this is because standard LEDs are useless in dense fog. They don't cut through the fog like halogens do, they just reflect back at you and make it worse.

I am not aware of any mondeos having LED fog lamps unless the owner has changed them after they left the dealership. As far as I know there is no way to upgrade them as an option when ordering, unless it changed with the mk5.5

ok, i think not often these will be used so not a big deal.

A bit weird that Ford official dealer sells LED fog lights as halogen….

Unfortunately the dealers know very little about their vehicles. You can put LEDs in if you want to, you need H11 fitment. As long as they are CANbus friendly they will be fine.

I'm not sure if the mk5.5 uses the fogs as cornering lights, if they do then it will look a bit odd with the LED dipped beam and halogen cornering lights. Cornering lights also come on when you select reverse (as long as dipped beam is on).

The dynamic LEDs aren't as sophisticated as matrix headlights, but they do have an adaptive beam pattern that changes with speed and rain conditions. In town driving and heavy rain the light is thrown more to the sides and at motorway speeds it's focused ahead, with various other light patterns in-between. The effect is not as obvious as matrix lights, but I do notice some difference. However, it doesn't adapt the beam pattern to oncoming traffic so with the auto high beam they're either on or off. If you do a quick google (other search engines are available) for "ford dynamic led lighting" you'll see some videos of the effect, but in real life I think it's more subtle than the videos make out.

The other function that the dynamic LEDs have that's more obvious is for cornering. You will see the lights follow the steering, so at least on the pre-facelift Mk5 there's no additional cornering light with the dynamic LEDs. Not sure about the facelift but I'd guess it works the same way.

Oh, and two other things I should mention: 1) the adaptive beam pattern only works if the light switch is in the "auto" (A) mode, and 2) the auto high beam is useless in fog, because it keeps trying to switch itself on even with oncoming traffic. Works fine otherwise, at least for me.

How about autonrear window heating? It looks like while engine is cold it heats rear window. It was same on Focus 2015- there i could switch it off, by pressing heating on and then off. Here it seems this combination doesnt work.
