Has anyone any advice on this topic, have a 2017 grand c max. The timing chain snapped with no prior warning and has wrecked the engine. We still have arouind £7k left to pay on finance and a £4k bill to refit an engine is enough to tip us into bankruptcy. The C max is a 2017 1.0 ecoboost with 61k on the clock. No service ever mentioned that the chain or tensioners were needing looked at. I've no idea if Ford have any sort of warranty for this and if so whether or not we have passed it. Any advice would be greatly received.  Thank you

1.0 ecoboost

Sadly you join the many hundreds that have had the same problem.

Provided you have had the vehicle religiously serviced at a Ford main dealer and that everything in the service schedule has been followed to the letter of the law then you may well get some assistance from 'Ford'

Presently Ford are supplying brand new 1.0 Ecoboost engines for the discounted price of £2500, but it has to be fitted by a Ford dealer. The cost is normally between £1200 and £1400. Total invoice is £3700 - £3900.

If you register a complaint with Ford customer services and can provide evidence of services etc. then they may well may make a substantial contribution to the invoice.
