New member with Mondeo mk3 tdci 2007

Featured Replies

Hiiiiii how is everyone 🙂 obviously as youve guessed im new here and getting frustrated 🤣

I bought my mk3 2007 mondy 2.0 tdci about 6 months ago from let's say a less than reputable seller, my mistake. But hey i loved the car and still do ! Unfortunately some things were lied about and ive already had to spend a few £££ but i still think the car is worth it.

Anywayssss here comes my issue im hoping you guys can help with.

So basically first thing in the morning when i go out start the car. Its rough, like really rough sit there for 10 mins while it decideds its ready to run properly, try and rev it up and its almost like it gets stuck at 2000rpm for a second or two thenn POOOOF biiiig black cloud of smoke and the revs fly up.Almost as if theres a blockage that slowly gets pushed out.

Untill the car warms up shes sounds rough but idles smoothly if that makes sense lol. After the initial burst of smoke she revs up fine but still "catches" around 2000rpm. It drives great although i feel theres a delay in the turbo which doesnt kick in until around 4500 rpm but then when it does the car takes off like a rocket!

SO far ive replaced the boost pipe between egr and intercooler and pulled egr off and intake manifold cleaned out looootttttts of soot. Ive got it booked in for a full service next week mainly to have the fuel filter changed but im wondering if theres something else i may be missing, ive seen people suggest failing turbos, injectors, actuators etc etc. Ive got forscan on laptop and high speed obd cable showing no dtcs logged, im plugging it in this afternoon to try and read the injector performance but im open to suggestions. I absolutely love the car and want to get it ready for its mot next month ! 🤣

anyway sorry for a long first post but thanks in advance ☺️

Heyyy so quick update. Sat in the car with forscan hooked up reading injectors and here are the results. Can anyone make sense of these ?

Values between

F_in_A 0.857/ -0.012

F_inj_ B -0.144/-0.529

F_inj_c 0.235/-0.416

F_inj_d 0.147/-0.538

those are approximate fluctuations with engine running.

Strange however no big black puff of smoke this morning 🤔

Worth checking if you've got burnt out glowplug or 2. But very risky  changing them in cold weather - risk of snapping - if you can  live with it till warmer days but you could at least measure the resistance (without the need to remove them)

Worth buying yourself an injector leakoff test kit.... low £20s and a cheap n cheerful test of the health state of an injector (but by no means a comprehensive test, but many problems have been sorted with one)
