Hi, the dreaded oil diaphragm has started to cause its famous squeek in my mk4 5 pot. Question is it best to try and replace the diaphragm or the whole filter housing etc? I have looked on the tube and both look a ball ache to be honest! How much would be a reasonable price to be charged? 

I am sure this has been bounced around b4 but there are a lot of posts on here so forgive me if this is repeating what has been asked previously.

    It is not really a hard job. I would recommend replacing the whole unit. If you are doing it yourself you can source from Ford but the same part is cheaper from a Volvo dealer (well it used to be)

    As above.

    I replaced the whole filter housing on mine 5 years ago with a Volvo version part number 31338685 (was £163 compared to Fords £228 back then), I'd heard the Volvo one was a newer design with a stronger diaphragm. Quite easy to swap over from memory too.
