timing problems

Featured Replies

Hi there I have a cmax 1.6 tdci with the dv6 16v  and I'm having problems with setting the timing back up I believe when we told the belt off it wasnt in tdc I believe it was in the neutral position but we have now try numerous spots on the fuel pump and still no luck it was running fine before the belt change but the belt was on its last legs top and bottom is fine as I can crank the engine all day and I am sure the vavle and everything is fine I'm just confused 🤔 and need any little help  if possible thanks in advance

I have done the belt on one of these. The cam , crankshaft and fuel pump sprocket all have holes in. I used drill bits of just the right size through the sprocket holes into the corresponding hole behind it in the right place.  IIRC this was quite an easy one to do. Certainly a lot easier that some other engines. I don’t understand why the fuel pump sprocket is timed.  Due to the number of teeth on it, it is only in sync once in every three revolutions ( I think). When I had the lower cover off I sawed it in half so that if needs be I could remove more of it without having to remove crank pulley. I know some people will think that was stupid. Are you sure you haven’t disturbed crank position sensor or wiring
