Glow plugs problem on my 2012 2.0tdcı powershıft mondeo

Featured Replies

Hı everyone I bought a Mondeo mk4 2.0TDCI Powershıft 2012 a couple months before whıle ıt ıs summer and wheater is hot. It ıs winter here now for like 2 months and  the temparatures are around -5 -10 degrees celcius so my glow plugs are not  working in these wheather and cold conditions what can ı do ? Where the problem could be and which parts should ı check.Car starts on the second or third try at these conditions btw and also my temparature gauge wont't show the temperature of engine till ı drive the car for a few kılometres and stop then start the car again . And also ı had the same car with the 140hp version of it and that car was using glow plugs on this conditions that ı mentionet on the top of the topic.

Maybe your glowplugs are burnt out? After all, they're like light bulbs, and do need replacing from time to time. Can you do stuff yourself? Have you got a multimeter? You will need to find the wire that feeds the glowplugs and measure the resistance from that wire to chassis to start with. It should be in the order of 1-8 Ohms.  A better test is to disconnect each gp from the wire and measure the resistance of each gp seperately,  again the reading shld be 2-8 Ohms approx. If you can find the fuse that feeds the gps in the fusebox, - it will be a very large fuse, around 60 Amps - and may be physically larger than the other fuses-pull it out and see if it checks OK on your multimeter.  Glowplugs are especially risky to change, as they tend to be very tight and you risk stripping the head threads or snapping the gp! so dont just think of taking them out on a whim!
