Hello 👋

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, as my not so original name suggests, my name is Dai and I own a Mondeo 2.5t, First Ford I've owned in many a year, since I had a Fiesta RS Turbo in the early 00's.

It's been a great 6 months of ownership and I really love the car, but now it's presented me with a small issue I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me with.

Today whilst driving it had a ton of hesitation low in the revs, like it was over fuelling and bogging down. No real throttle response. It would come and go. Then a few minutes later as I slowed down for traffic on a dual carriageway (sods law, 1 Lane closed due to road works) it cut out. I restarted it and it instantly cut back out. I got it started again this time it did have throttle response, and I pulled off more like a 17yr kid than a 39 year old, but it worked. I drove it quite hard home and seemed to work fine.

It's standard except a longlife exhaust and a pipercross panel filter. My first thought it oil from the filter dirtying the MAF... I've also read about possible MAP and Boost solenoid issues.

It does get used mainly for short journeys but plugs were only done last year but they could be worth looking at. But it wasn't like a miss one 1 cylinder. It was across the board to the point it wouldn't idle.

Anyway that's my hello to the forum, any suggestions you have I'll be glad to hear.

Thanks

Dai

Welcome along mate, do you happen to know if it's ever had a fuel filter change?

Thanks, I'm not 100% sure. It was on 96,000 when I bought it with a full service history but I'd have to check if there was anything about a fuel filter. I've never let it run low and run it on tesco 99
