Hi new member needing help

Hi guys

I’m ant currently driving a 61 plate Ford Focus mk3 1.6 eco boost 150ps

Since having my head gasket replaced my cars not run right. Driving in 1st or 2nd around a car park it seams to jerk as if it’s going to stall. Untill you give it some gas and it’s fine but you can now and again feel it in 3rd and 4th if your just cruising along.

Also when driving for a while and coming to a stop the car now and again it self revs from 1k to 1500 holds the revs then drops after a while. Now and again get like a rotten egg smell.

it’s absolutely driving me crazy as to what all these problems could be. To the point where am looking at getting rid and going back to basic hit it with a hammer kind of car instead of the fancy electrics all over the engine bay.

You think a 2011 car has fancy electrics 🤣 So what you need to buy is a 1979 Escort Mk2 that's about the last vintage that were built without electronics.

In answer to your problem, it sounds like the timing maybe slightly out.

You need to use FORScan and check to see if there are any DTC's stored that will give a reason for the problems, or just hit it with a hammer and see what happens 🤔

Thanks for your reply pal

the timing belt was also done when the head gasket was replaced. Am guessing he’s not done it right and it needs to be done again.

Ah!!! well that would kind of confirm my suspicions that the timing is out by a couple of degrees - you were right, it just needs a tap with a hammer to line it up 🤣

Well just invested in the FORScan it’s on its way tomorrow. Have to dig out the tools and get adjusting.

Am guessing the self revving also ties into the timing as well

Welcome along…

Welcome mate, hope you get your issue sorted
