Black dash not working and solution

I recently had the black dash dead problem on my Mondeo, asked about a new one very expensive, tried the scrappers spares department, eventually went to Auto Electrics, The repair took one hour, which included instrument strip and resolder with British solder and reassembly. It works well, starts first time and things that did not work are now back on. However, the dash lights are very bright, the cost was £105 including VAT.
