1.4 tdci Cylinder Head Cover/Intake Manifold Installation

Featured Replies

Losing the will to live. I cannot for the life of me get the cover pushed down enough against the o-rings to line up with the threaded holes. I even tried standing on it.

Anyone got tips on how to do it before I torch the jeremy hunt?

TIA

not 100% sure on the engine bay layout on the Fusion but when i done mine and replaced the 4 o-rings it was a nightmare in the end i got a jack bar and put it under the bulk head and bounced it up and down on the intake manifold, making sure not to be to heavy handed and crack it. after bouncing it (rocking it) a few times it finally went down enough to get the 2 bolts in the back.

also i lined up the rocker cover section and put the bolts in that hand tight before trying to push down the intake manifold half.

I'm sure there is someone on here that would know a better way or a type of grease/lube that could be put on the o-rings with out damaging anything but I just went at mine and eventually it went in. also i put the o-rings on the intake manifold not in the engine. put them right on the end and they rolled down and pushed in as i rocked it all.

Well I eventually got it done. Bolted a bit of angle iron to the rear holes where the airbox sits in, drilled a hole in the middle of it to slide m10 rod down to a bit of unirail pulling agianst the chassis and sump.

Trust Ford to think up such a stupid way of doing things, but where there's a will there's a way.

Car still ain't running though 🙄
