2.2 TDCI fuel stuff (related to flashing glow plug light?)

Featured Replies

Hi folks

i’m hoping to spend some time in the coming days to try and diagnose my intermittent flashing glow plug light issue.

my hand held code reader picks up an EGR fault and forscan turbo actuator fault.

I’d already bought new crank and camshaft sensors so will whack those in a few other threads seemed to suggest these could at times contribute.

my question was this, how do you know which codes are associated with the check engine light and which are the flashing glow plug light? I realise the cause of all of them needs sorting but….

I have other questions if this starts to look like injectors or pump fault….but I’m still reading posts about that….

FORScan will tell you if any of the stored codes is illuminating the MIL light or not, not sure what happens if it is just flashing though.

That’s my issue

on occasion I have MIL light separate to flashing glow plug light fault. Whilst I need and somehow will sort both it would be nice to attribute which potential fault has an effect on which light so to speak…

MIL shows OBD codes which a generic scanner should pick up.  Glowplug light shows Ford specific codes which Forscan should pick up.

Based on my own experience, I'd say your main issue is the turbo actuator, and it's such an easy part to replace you may as well start with that.

Ordered….is this a part that the ECU needs to ‘learn’? Ive read threads (ok whilst researching an issue with my tdci focus) about I think it was an EGR that the ECu needed to learn or similar….it was a week or two ago now and i couldve completely got it wrong

I don't remember resetting anything after changing it.  Just cleared the fault codes.

The electronic EGR on the DV6 does have to have it's adaptions reset after being replaced.  But probably best not to confuse this thread with that lol.

No problem, I often over think!!!

hopefully it arrives by the weekend and I’ll systematically fit parts and hopefully 🤞all will be well
