Mondeo ST TDCI instrument panel and relay issues

Featured Replies

My dad has an 07 Mondeo ST TDCI and over the last few days he has been complaining that his instrument panel is lighting up with flickering lights and the battery light is on. Also the relays under the dash are clicking all the time.

Can anyone please shed some light on what the issue could be?

We have recently changed the ABS sensor and spliced in a new cable and connector to the original wiring (could this be causing the issue?)

We are having a look at the car later today when he returns from attending a funeral.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Jon.

Sounds like alternator troubles, but measure the battery voltage with engine off, and the voltage when charging. Also check battery  terminals are tight. Did you disconnect the alternator at any point... I'd check the terminals are tight at the alternator too. If you disconnect the smart charge plug at the alternator then the charging volts should be around 14.4v.
