    i think ob models with heated seats its where the switches are. i put my mp3 player in there when its plugged into the stereo, it fits quite well!

    Most likely using an adapter that plugs into the CD changer plug on the back of the headunit if I am not mistaken.

    Why not plug mp3 player into aux socket in glovebox and have stereo on aux ?

    Because not all models had an aux socket in the glove box. That stereo in particular, I believe was before when the aux sockets were included.
