Air Con/Heating control panel Question

Featured Replies

Hi, Just need a quick bit of advice, i have a 2017  2.0D AWD Kuga,  had  battery issues which i have discovered are being caused by  dash cam draining battery (low use due to covid/wfh etc.)

Anyway, i jump started car and now the panel that controls  heating etc.  isn't  switching on at all, is this just a fuse blown?

I would let the car charge the battery for a while, then disconnect battery for a few mins.

I did  take it for a long drive  as soon as  i jumped started  it, nothing.  It happened once  before in  November, but the panel worked fine  afterwards.  It just seems very specific area to not be  working  and i  noticed  on the fuse map  that there is an individual  fuse  for this panel/system,  was just   wanting someone to  give a bit of  piece of mind as  i can change  a fuse and they  are cheap 🙂

I've had exactly the same issue with a brand new car a few years ago. Basically the module detects a voltage spike and shuts down. A battery disconnect cured that one

Ok, i'll  try that. Do  i just need to disconnect  1 terminal?

i hope you say disconnect positive as its the only one i can get to. 🙂

Well guy at kwik fit said fuse is ok and did battery check. But in doing so he disconnected battery and its working, so who knows.

Battery ok, although he  says it has "high charging out put". And that i might need to get that checked out at ford?

So i think you're right about battery.

One thing i have noticed though, the display background for air con/heating looks a bit like its all illuminated a bit more than usual? But i'm not 100%

Also, does the little i on dashboard always flash when car is off and alarm set?

Does sound like battery disconnect did the job.  I get various modules that don't work  esp sync screens and a battery disconnect does the job. But sometimes the module configuration gets corrupt on low battery voltage and jump starts.

Transit connects seem most susceptible.
