I have a car that is a 66 plate however Ford insist its a 2017.... They have checked the vin and keeps coming up as a 2017??? Any ideas anyone.... just curious

 

However.... first registered mid December 2016 could that be the reason..

That would make it "Model Year 2017"

Just like when you buy a magazine it's always got next month on the cover, or in the middle of January they announce the best car of 2022 is...... even though we still have over 11 months of the year still to go.

I have a Honda XL350 motorbike.  On the frame plate (chassis plate) it says it big letters 1977 model, and in smaller letters it says manufactured April 1976. It was  originally sold in usa.  They obviously took it to the extreme with the model years. 

Some mondeos out there can be registered 2022 on 71 plate and in fact be built in 2019. 🤭🤭🤭.

So the other way round.

My mate has a 2019 with a build date of early 2017, some of them just sit about in a yard somewhere as though they have been forgotten about.
