Rear axle bushes

Featured Replies

Just seeking a bit of advise, my fiestas only 4 years old and I’ve been advised on my MOT that the bushes on the rear axle need replacing. I thought they’d last a lot longer than 4 years so just wondering if this is a common problem and how much roughly I should be paying to get them changed. Thanks.

a friend of mine had this issue on thie fiesta and the mechanic said common fault on some of them!

this clip was quite useful into this subject, you may get some tips, hope you can get a result down the line and someone could help here on the group:

I wouldn't replace them on the basis of an Advisory, if they were in a state that they were about to fail then you would have been given a fail. If you are worried then take it somewhere else for an opinion.

When I had my last car it was MOT'd by the same person for several years and every year I had Advisories for Suspension Bushes, I never changed any of them and some of the ones that were Advisories one year were not the next year, then they might come back as Advisories in a future year but some of the other ones dropped off the list never to appear again.

just had powerflex rear axle bushes done on my 1.6 ti vct 2012..it will take about 3 hours labour (probably more if you get oem ones as they need compressed to get in where as the powerflex just push in) unless the 7.5 is different i guess. advisory after 4 years does sound a bit strange with stock ones

With today's roads it won't takes bushes to become blown to bits, we got ours changed and the car felt brand new again and like it's on rails. we refitted rubber bushes back in, took about 3hrs to do.

Hi mate, did you have to notify your insurance with this. Had these on my car for a year now and only just thinking about this in terms of insurance 😬

Same as it is for everyone, of course it SHOULD be declared to the insurer.

Technically it should be declared, but did he actually declare it, that's another matter.
