replace moldings and window on Mk4 diesel estate

Featured Replies

Hello all, I have a late 2007 Diesel mondeo estate, and I had a stupid accident where I have shattered the rear quarter window and smashed the moldings on the passenger side doors...

So my question is, how easy is it to remove and replace the window and door moldings?

Thanks.

Have a look HERE

Looks like the B and C pillar trims are bolted/clipped on. Look up the part numbers and google/ebay search for them, but probably still worth calling a Ford parts dept to double check.

that's great thanks.

If you've got glass cover on your car insurance, they may replace that window for a small excess.

hopefully, but it's been two weeks waiting for them to sort it out so I am thinking of just doing it myself.

Ah ok, fair enough.

The door frame is just nuts & bolts as said above but the window is bonded in so more difficult.  You could cut the window from the car using cheese wire to cut through the adhesive.  You'll have to remove all adhesive from the car & the new window.  Then use proper window fitting sealant to fit it.  Top tip is to cut the sealant funnel into a V shape to get a 'peak' on the bead of sealant.  This helps avoid the risk of air bubbles and leaks which could form from a rounded bead that you might use in a kitchen or bathroom.

Not sure if you'll be able to source a new window as a private buyer but a breakers yard will often cut windows out for buyers.
