Digital display blank

Featured Replies

I’ve got a 2011 Ka and the digital display on the dash is blank but the backlight still works. I haven’t been able to find a solution on here so far that could give me an answer. I’ve seen a website called ECUtesting where you can send it the cluster for diagnostics and rebuild but not sure if i want to go through with that yet as it would mean the car being out of action for a few days and cost more than i would probably want to spend.
i read in a forum about disconnecting the battery for a while then reconnecting got the display to reappear on a focus but i dont have the radio code - would i need the radio code if its the cars original radio still in it?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

All you need is the serial number of your radio (label on the back) or on most you can get the radio to display the serial number.

Then just do a search with Google, there are lots of sites that you can input the serial number and it will tell you the radio code.

I can not offer further help on getting the radio code as it is against the FOC rules

Hi Jodie, that's actually a message from the "Tree Huggers" telling you that the 'save the dolphin' solder that was used by Ford back in 2011 is now falling apart.

If you firmly tap the top of the dash, just above the instrument cluster you will probably be able to get the random message to change.

You can remove the instrument cluster and send it away for refurbishment (using real solder), Just do a search on sites like eBay for IC repair. It should cost about £80

😂 Thanks, thats started my day with a giggle!
I did email one company called cartronix and they came back with a £250+postage quote 😱 will check out what ebay has to offer later.
Thanks again for your wise words!
