Can I trigger central locking from engine compartment?

Featured Replies

HI 05 streetka here

Had a flat battery, left key in ignition while I attached jump leads. Connected leads and central locking locked! Now can't get in! So can I trigger central locking from engine compartment or fusebox?

Please!!!

Ah !!

That's an old, old problem. I not heard of that happening for a long time.

The short answer is no, you can't just trigger the central locking otherwise it would be used by every car thief in town.

The good news is the car is not dead locked, just locked which makes things a bit easier. The quickest method is to gently pull out the top corner of the drivers door and use a straightened out wire coat hanger to 'go fishing' and pull the inside door handle.

Or if you are a member of a AA/RAC then they will come out and open it.
