Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to find a way to disable the hands free tail gate opening and closing? It seems to have a mind of it's own .. closed on my head yesterday .. but we can rarely get it to work when we want it to !!

Ouch! That's happened to me a couple of times too.

I guess it can be done with Forscan. You're probably best looking and/or asking in the American Edge forums: https://www.fordedgeforum.com/.

Thanks Pete ! I've checked that out and looks like buying an OBD scanner and downloading FORScan is an option. We've rung two Ford dealers and they say it can't be done but I guess it's worth a try. If anyone has tried and succeeded .. or failed .. please let me know! Thanks!

Hi Jo77,

I have disabled my power liftgate in FORScan. We had a similar issue and it was unsafe for the kids. I will connect FORScan and take some screen shots of the modules and specific lines you need to adjust.

Hi.

The Hands Free Liftgate option is under the BCM. Image below shows the line and option to Enable or Disable. Once disabled, it only disables the rear bumper sensor switch, so the key fob and dash button continue to work as normal.

hello,

if it is  just closing unexpectedly due to the kick sensor being triggered, if you leave your key inside the car, boot or seat area, it disables the sensor. hope this helps.
