Hi

Got my self  a 2018 Ford edge ST line, only had it just over a week and the fuel gage is so erratic first showing 520 mile to full tank, travelled 9 mile and used 60miles of diesel from the 520 full tank.  Then 380 to a full tank  returning 37.2 miles to the gallon on a long drive.

Called ford and explained the problem and the service guy told me that the fuel gage would settle down and adjust to my driving, can some one please advise me if this is correct.

Thank you

Hello Graham welcome to the Ford Owners Club 👍

It's not a fuel gauge it is the 'estimated' range that the fuel computer has calculated given recent driving conditions.

The computer can only base the range on what has happened in the last X amount of miles (which you can reset at any time), it can not predict the future. If the last 100 miles were driven at a nice steady 60mph on a nice flat or slightly down hill road with a tail wind it will give an estimated range of XXX. However if you then change to doing a 50 mile drive through the lake district on winding country lanes stuck behind caravans doing 27mph uphill then the estimate range is going to be recalculated and its going to be a lot less than the original value of XXX
