Afternoon guys and girls.

Recently got myself a 2009 mondeo 2.0 titanium x, high miles 225,000, bought it as a work car and it came with a smoke issue.

The issue being black smoke on acceleration, can do it stationary and leave a black circle on the tarmac but as usual pretty bad when driving filling the road behind with smoke.

1st thing I blanked egr, iv had the rubber boost pipe off from plastic turbo hose to intercooler, no splits in it and was a little oil in there, but I'm thinking this could be normal being the lowest point of boost pipes.

Had it carbon cleaned also this week and some heap of carbon come from it but made no difference to the smoking issue.

Iv ordered the forscan dongle to use with the mobile app. I'm just wondering if there is any fairly common issues you guys have come across that caused similar issues.

Cheers

Tom

I had thick black smoke from the back of my 2004 Mondeo Estate 2.0L TDCI a few years ago. The fault was a 4 inch split in the 3 inch diameter rubber hose that connects to the underneath side of the EGR valve, it’s about 14 inches long. This split was difficult to see but was fixed temporarily using duck tape.
Not sure if this is the pipe that you have checked.
