B max Hum/whine/ electric motor noise.

Featured Replies

I have recently got a B max 2013/25k miles. It has a noise like an electric motor. Turn ignition on it starts the stops abruptly. Start up it hums annoyingly all the time. Audible in cab, less so from outside. Seems to be behind driver, low down and left. Anyone any clues.  Tim

It is probably the electric fuel pump pressurising the system. You can hear them on many vehicles, but some make more noise than others. Yours might just be getting ready to fail.

Thanks, that came up as a suggestion on  web search. I'll follow it up.
