flickering rear camera screen as well as car alarm sounding for no reason, after jet wash.

Has anyone experienced this before? My vehicle is a '17 reg' Ford Kuga Vignale.

"Probably"

after jet wash. ----- More information required. Is this a one off instance or has it happened lots of times ? Are the drains at the bottom of the windscreen clear, or is water running down in to the alarm unit.

car alarm sounding for no reason.  ----- There is always a reason.

If you download the software FORScan and connect to the cars OBDII port using the vLinker FS cable then you will be able to see what it is that has caused the alarm.

flickering rear camera screen.  ----- Usual problem the cameras are not 100% jetwash proof, and a possible loose connector or a connector with a faulty pin. I'd start with the connector behind the trim in the rear offside quarter panel.

squirt some WD40 into the sensors worked wonders on my rear parking sensors 😁

A classic use of WD40 as it's primarily a water repellent...

Thanks for the advice - the car alarm going off only happens when the reversing camera is flickering...I have always thought that they were connected but I will make sure that the drains at the bottom of the windscreen are clear as this may be why it is happening. I have also had the car washed again today, but asked them not to jet wash the tailgate and so far (8 hours later) there has not been any problem with either the camera or the alarm system. Fingers crossed!

Ah ha !!!

I think I might know the answer. Water is getting in to the tailgate handle assembly. The alarm contact switch and the reverse camera share a common supply connector on the back of the handle. The tailgate release is a known problem on many vehicles.

That is worth investigating further...thank you very much indeed. 😊
